Wildstyle is all about the hip-hop culture, graffiti art, rapping, DJing and breakdancing emanating from the streets of the South Bronx, which has become one of the 80's most facinating musical and cultural scenes. Wildstyle centres arounf a character named Raymond, played by real-life graffiti artist Lee Quinones, who becomes the legendary Zoro, roaming the New York City subways at night, decorating it with his own visions of beauty. The only person who knows the true identy of Zoro is his close friend Phade who introduces him to the trendy Manhattan art world. More than your basic "rags to riches" story, Wildstyle is a celebration of South Bronx street culture. The movie Wildstyle, which is accompanied by a fabulous soundtrack album features New York musicians such as Fab Fve Freddy who was immortalized in Blondies Rapture; Grandmixer D. ST, who did the scratching on Herbie Hancock's Rock it; and former Blondie guitarist Chris Stein.
